38 leaders from the organic search engine optimization (SEO) world contributed in a study by SEOmoz.org for the SEO techniques that influence Google’s search engine ranking algorithm.
Rand Fishkin, SEOmoz CEO & Jeff Pollard, SEOmoz Web Developer launched the findings or their Search Engine Ranking Factors results of their website April 2, 2007. Fishkin says that 90-95% of the knowledge required about Google’s algorithm is contained in this study.
The Search Engine Ranking Factors study, Fishkin says is a valuable resource of which together the leaders of the SEO community voted on various factors that are estimated to comprise Google’s ranking algorithm which is the method by which the search engine ranks results.
The study lists the Top 10 Positive Factors which influence Google’s search engine rankings, the top 10 most controversial factors and the top five negative factors that influence the search engine rankings.
Danny Sullivan who is one of the SEO experts in the study ranks the Search Engine Ranking Factors data into three categories (easy, medium and hard) of how challenging it is to control these factors in his post at SearchEngineLand.com.
Sullivan writes that the easy search engine ranking factors that influence Google’s search engine ranking algorithm include: Keyword Use in Title Tag, Link Popularity within the Site’s Internal Link Structure, Server is Often Inaccessible to Bots and Keyword Use in Body Text.
The medium search engine ranking factors is Age of a Site and the hard search engine ranking factors are Global Link Popularity of Site, Anchor Text of Inbound Links, Topical Relevance of Inbound Links To Site, Link Popularity of Site in Topical Community and Global Link Popularity of Linking Site.
